LANTERN MARKING TOUR

One of the greatest pleasure of any visitor to Hoi An is strolling along the beautiful streets of the old town at night under the flickering lights of the many beautiful lanterns. These colorful lanterns are not only the symbol of Hoi An old town but also a part of the spirit of the Hoi An. We would like to offer you a tour to a traditional Hoi An handicraft village to make some lanterns.09:00: our local guide will meet you at the lobby hotel and you will ride a bicycle to the home of a craftsman. Here you will get a brief introduction to the history, shape, and color of the lanterns as well as the many stages of making them. Then you will be shown how to decorate and make your own lanterns. You can also keep it as a souvenir.


After say goodbye to your host, going to Tra Que vegetable village to enjoy lunch and back to your hotel by bicycle. End of tour around 14:00.

THANH HA POTTERY & KIM BONG CARPENTRY VILLAGE:

In the 16th and 17th century Thanh Ha was a thriving village. It was famous for earthenware that was sold in many provinces throughout Central Vietnam. It was Thanh Ha villagers who made the bricks, tiles and floor slabs for the old buildings in Hoi An and the surround-ing areas. Nowadays many old buildings in Hoi An need restoring and the Thanh Ha villag-ers are the only contractors that can pro-vide standardized bricks, tiles and floor slabs exactly like the ones when the old port town prospered.

 

Kim Bong carpentry village is located at Cam Kim Hamlet. This village is very famous for its carpentry, as almost all Hoian ancient architecture were produced by their ancestors talented hands at a time when Hoi An flourished as a major sea port. Kim Bong carpenters techniques are perfect. Their sculptured works on the head of scissors, slanting, desks, altars, furniture, cabinets, trays, and the like, are masterpieces admired by everyone. Today, Kim Bong carpenters still keep their old career, although there have been many among them who have shifted to ship building and recovering historical monument or relics. Many products are sold as souvenir to tourists and over-sea.

MY LAI MASSACRE TOUR

My Lai is a village in Viet Nam that has become famous due to the mass murder or more than 300 unarm civilians, including women, children, and the elderly. This massacre occurred during the Vietnam War and on a full-day trip from Hoi An, you will learn more about what happened and how it affected the village.

Upon arriving in My Lai – one of the least-developed areas of Vietnam – you will visit the city museum. See displays recounting what occurred, and walk to the site where the violence happened. Afterward, you may have the chance to meet survivors. You can also talk with locals and explore the village.. Then you will be returned to your hotel.

 

The driver will pick you up at the hotel at 7:00 am. From Hoi An we drive about 120km in a private car South along the National Highway then through rural countryside across to My Lai on the coast where you can visit the My Lai memorial museum.

In the museum you will learn what happened on that tragic day back in March 1968 when over 500 harmless local villagers ( including men, women and children ) were killed by American troops. After the slaughter the troops set fire to the village to cover up the massacre.

In the grounds around the museum you can see the Peace Memorial Park which is landscaped with statues and a recreation of the burnt out village. Each house in the village has a plaque in front recording the names and ages of the victims.

We return back to Hoi An around 5:00pm

HOI AN - HUE

MY SON HOLY LAND

My Son is located in the heart of valley - surrounded by mountain ranges that are natural boundaries with the Duy Phu village, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province. It is about 45 Km away from Hoi An in the West. Thanks to the letters in the oldest steles of the 4th century by which was excavated at My Son that King Bhadresvara had built a temple for offering to the Gold Siva Bhadresvara. It was in wood and completely destroyed by fire in the 6th century. In earlier 7th century, King Sambhuvarman rebuilt the temple of bricks and aggregates. Since then, more than 70 similar temples had been built up to the 13th century. Consequently, My Son was considered a Sanctuary of Hinduism in the Champa Kingdom.

EXCURSION TO CHAM MUSEUM

Situated at the intersection of Trung Nu Vuong Street and Bach Dang Street in Da Nang, the heart of the ancient Cham Pa Kingdom, the museum houses the last collection of Cham Pa arts in the world. It was started in 1915 under the support of the French’s Oriental Research Institution in Vietnam.In 1936, the museum was expanded before being officially opened to the public in 1939.Cham Pa Museum was constructed in the ancient Cham Pa architecture style with many blocks of white building decorated with simple and elegant patterns.After decades, the past influence of the Cham Pa dynasty on Vietnam central regions is still prominent. we can very often encounter the famous historical sites of Cham Pa. However, the Cham Pa Museum in Da Nang City makes it a lot easier for us to learn about this mysterious yet interesting ancient culture without having to visit several locations thorough the regions.


Founded in 1915 by the Ecole Francais d’Extreme Orient, the open–air collection of Cham sculpture is the finest in the world. Many of the sandstone carvings (altars, lingas, garudas, ganeshas, and image of Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu) are breathtaking; making this a place you can easily visit again and again.
